Thomas K. Kim

Thomas K. Kim spent the first twenty years of his career in the boardroom — first as a transactional attorney at a Tier 1 Los Angeles firm, then as General Counsel for two publicly traded San Diego companies. He has overseen transactions exceeding $2.1 billion in aggregate deal value, negotiated complex commercial contracts across five industries, and guided two companies through SEC-registered public offerings.

Thomas earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, followed by an LL.M. in Taxation from NYU — credentials that reflect his dual expertise in business law and tax-efficient estate planning. He is a California State Bar Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law and a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), a designation held by fewer than 1% of U.S. attorneys.

His estate planning practice focuses on high-net-worth families and closely held business owners who need more than a simple will. Thomas designs comprehensive plans — dynasty trusts, spousal lifetime access trusts, family limited partnerships, and business succession frameworks — that preserve wealth across generations while minimizing estate and income tax exposure.

Thomas joined LexForge as Of Counsel in 2019 to bring big-firm sophistication to clients who deserve direct partner access without downtown Los Angeles billing rates.
